First
ideas are drawn up for a completely modular stage,
designed not just to be a fighting arena but a heavy duty stage
system.

full designs are started to be developed. Research into
materials and equipment begins.

system ordered. 10x12 metres wide and long and 4 metres in
height.

25th
November 2006
Designs
finalised.
29th
November 2006
First
materials arrive, 21 sheets of 18mm plywood. First lot of
metal ordered.
1st
December 2006
20foot
storage container arrived for safe keeping of the arena. Also
first lot of metal arrived enough to make half of the floor.
2nd
December 2006
Construction
begins! Although only having about half a day on it, we managed
to get 4 of the full size panels built and made a prototype leg.
Most of the material is cut and ready for tomorrow, plan being
to have enough flooring to make a 16x12 foot floor section (just
over quarter of the entire arena).
3rd
December 2006
Successful
day, we finished what we wanted to do. Had a 16x12 foot floor
setup (see pictures) went together fairly easy, although will be
more difficult with wood attached. But dismantled quickly and
was more than strong enough when together. So we have 5 of the
18 ‘full’ floor panels made and 2 of 6 ‘half’ panels made, with
nearly half of the internal supports built.
18th
December 2006
Over
the past week we have made up 10 more floor frames and all the
legs. We have also made a start on building the walls. One wall
was made up today for testing. We tested the outer frame of the
wall in place. Then added the extra supports, The steel plate
will be with us in the new year.
24th
December 2006
All
floor frames are all welded, painted and have first layer of
wood attached. The barriers are together and are waiting for the
steel plate to arrive. We have collected all of the trussing
that is being used for the outer structure, this will support
the polycarbonate screening and roof. We have tested part of it
by setting up a 12 meter goalpost system, we were only able to
winch it halfway due to the height restrictions, but comfortably
held the weight.
24th
January 2007
All
of the main stage is now complete and painted. Polycarbonate has
now arrived, outer kickboards are under construction. The arena
is undergoing a full test build this weekend.
