Robots Live originated in 2001 organising robot events solely in the Leicestershire area; the first show being 'Wars Bots' an event attended by an audience in excess of 1000. Following that success we then went on to host another event at the Snibston Discovery Park attended by over thirty roboteers with an audience of 2000.
Over the next five years, Robots Live continued to provide unmissable events to the nation, moving from strength to strength, until it was decided the time was upon the organisation to build a large scale touring arena that would play host to some of the fiercest robotic combat seen. Our new and more flexible arena was first unveiled in time for use in our home town of Whitwick, which proved an apt opening to a successful 2007 tour. During our 2007 tour, over 12000 people saw robots in action at our events across the United Kingdom. Events were hosted in many large UK venues such as the eXcel Centre in London and the Triangle, Burgess Hill, where we were voted ‘Best Family Entertainment Show of 2007’.
Click here to find out more about our arena. In 2008 we attended many of the UK’s largest venues adding the Northgate Arena, Rivermead Complex and the NEC to our list. As well as attending some of our previous locations from 2007 such as; the Triangle, London eXcel Centre and the Telford International Centre.
As well as the construction of our arena the Robots Live HQ has also been host to many other creations. The team has created robots for the Special Forces which have been required to travel in hazardous areas, relay video and sound to the operator and be controlled up to two miles away. In the summer of 2007 the team competed on Channel 4’s Scrapheap Challenge. Named the ‘Robot Warriors’, the team set about producing a machine that could prove stiff competition when pitched against other teams of engineering enthusiasts.
